Róng-Resident Designer Plan
When Róng Design Library was established, it launched an annual "Róng-Resident Designer Plan" with the aim of inviting designers from different countries and regions to come to mainland China for a period of time and have their ideas collide with traditional Chinese handicraftsmen and materials from different fields. Through on-site investigation, design creation, sample making, and production, the designers complete a piece (or a set) of work.
Since 2015, more than 50 designers from Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Japan, Germany, Italy, Thailand, the United States, Portugal, Spain, Hong Kong, and Taiwan of China from various countries and regions have participated in the Resident Designer Plan.
In 2025, four designers supported by the Swiss Cultural Foundation Shanghai Office will come to the Róng Design Library for a residency, starting a "molecular-level collision between cultures." They are: Ivo Theo Frederico Allgoewer，Pauline Agustoni，Valentin Dubois，Léon Félix；Another one is the winner of the 2025 Róng Design Award from Venezuela: Juan Cortizo.
