The aesthetics of a place never emerge out of nowhere; instead, they take shape slowly and steadily through the interweaving of historical accumulation, cultural inheritance, residents' daily lives, architectural forms, and the natural environment.
"Róng Situated Aesthetics Program" is a brand-new column launched by Róng Design Library. Through this column, we aim to conduct in-depth discussions on local aesthetic practices in different scenarios and present the close connection between aesthetics and local life.
The birth of this column also stems from the residency experience of Róng Design Library and PINWU Design Team in Qingshan Village. Against the backdrop of the joint development of rural and urban areas, rural local aesthetics and urban micro-aesthetics are two important branches of the local aesthetics system. They are interrelated and complementary to each other, jointly forming a complete exploration dimension for us to understand local aesthetics.
By sorting out these two types of practices, the "Róng Situated Aesthetics Program" column hopes to clearly present the aesthetic value centered on "locality" — it can not only depict a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, tradition and modernity, and rural and urban areas, but also provide a warm and feasible reference for us to think about "what constitutes an ideal human settlement". This is also the core original intention of launching this series.
