“XIAN” carries the memory of an era of China from a French collector, Thomas Sauvin. The designer was inspired by a sewing kit from the Chinese folk, and this completely handmade folding labyrinth was an important daily tool for Chinese housewives in the 1960s. Through improvement and reproduction to the traditional paper-folding process, this work delivers the clues to the readers and reshapes the story told in the image. The production is very limited; it takes 2 years for the designer and the printing factory to complete an entire “XIAN”.
