The renovation plan for the bus shelters in Huanghu Town, implemented by Lu Studio (Lu Xiang + Gong Qin), forms a key component of the Co-Action Project. Centered on Voronoi diagrams as the core design language—continuous polygons formed by the perpendicular bisectors of line segments connecting adjacent points—the design employs five basic modules to flexibly create modular spaces at four scales: large, medium, small, and micro. These can be precisely adapted to the functional requirements of different sites.

Functionally, the renovated shelters not only fulfill citizens’ basic needs for waiting and resting but also innovatively integrate diverse functions including micro-businesses, exhibitions, and rural construction study tours. By connecting with surrounding facilities such as fitness areas, small theaters, and parks, and responding to changes in terrain elevation, the design achieves a deep integration of function and context.

In construction, the project uses cast-in-place concrete Voronoi-shaped foundations and assembled bamboo-steel Voronoi components, fixed with tension cables and clad with waterproof aluminum panels to ensure structural stability and waterproofing. In addition, hexagonal threaded inserts are pre-embedded for easy installation of exhibition backboards, notice boards, and other display equipment, efficiently supporting a variety of exhibition needs.
