This visual identity and wayfinding system design for Qingshan Village is centered around the concept of the power of nature, deeply echoing the village’s character of being surrounded by mountains on three sides and blending nature with humanity. The design takes root in the local countryside and draws inspiration from daily life.

The Logo extracts geographical elements such as green hills, raindrops, and bamboo leaves to create a “character-scene” visual style, matching the rustic and warm temperament of the village.

The wayfinding design speaks the language of rural daily life. Drawing on the overlapping character forms of Republican-era literacy cards, it creates signs like “Lili” (Chestnuts), “Shanshan” (Sparkle), “Haihai” (Hi), paired with simple, rustic icons capturing village life. This elevates wayfinding beyond mere function to a carrier that showcases the village’s scenery and activities, enabling playful interaction between people and the environment.

The forms of the wayfinding system follow the growth patterns of plants: metal poles correspond to plant stems, rectangular panels echo the lake and fields, and the reservoir wayfinding adopts a consistent water-drop shape. Natural elements such as weather vanes and bird nests are also integrated, deeply aligning the design with the village’s ecology.Weather-resistant baked aluminum alloy is chosen as the material, combined with modular design, balancing practical rural needs and easy maintenance. The scale of the wayfinding also fits the community, encouraging slow-paced experiences.

The overall design abandons deliberate artistic creation, taking the nature and daily life of Qingshan Village as its origin. Wayfinding becomes more than a directional tool—it is a new way to understand the village, awakening people’s perception of rural charm and achieving a deep integration of nature, aesthetics, and rural daily life.
