The “Knotted Traces of Yuhang” urban weaving installation takes Yuhang’s cultural lineage as its thread and draws power from female creativity and civic participation, unfolding a time-spanning movement of knots and connections across railings and public spaces.
The installation is composed of four chapters:
In the Lotus Pond Farming Zone, green and yellow knots symbolize the land and the harvest.
On the Bridge Waterway Zone, indigo-dyed threads and flowing flat knots evoke the vitality of the Jiangnan waterways.
In the Canal Porcelain Zone, hues inspired by Song-dynasty ceramics intertwine to express the cultural and aqueous rhythms of the Grand Canal.
In the Jade Civilization Zone, circular knots of jade green and gentle white mirror the divine radiance of Liangzhu jade artifacts.
Through colors and knotting techniques unique to each zone, Yuhang’s history and culture are interwoven into a collective fabric of urban memory and future imagination.
