CMF and Sustainable Material Lab is dedicated to exploring the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and modern industrial technology. The essence of Linglong porcelain lies in the creation of Linglong eyes. Through the process of engraving, numerous regular holes are carved on the body of the porcelain, which are then filled with a specially made transparent glaze. The entire piece is then glazed to ensure that the holes are light-transmitting but do not leak after firing. Linglong eyes are renowned for their transparency, but they are not straightforwardly exposed. After the glaze fills the holes, the Linglong eyes present a semi-transparent effect, seemingly transparent yet not entirely so, retaining the reserved and suggestive aesthetic of Eastern art.

Inspired by the "Linglong eyes", the project explores the design possibilities of light-emitting elements in consumer products by controlling the thickness of semi-transparent PC plastic to achieve different degrees of light transmission, thus creating a "breathing pattern".
